Welcome to the Greater New Orleans Catholic Library Association

The Greater New Orleans Chapter of the Catholic Library Association welcomesall new and returning members to another year, our 50th, of serving our students and their families with library services in our schools and parishes. As an organization, we are dedicated to providing leadership for professional development, coordinating the exchange of ideas, and fostering community among those who seek, serve, preserve and share the word in all its forms. 

Will you join us this year? Our Fall Conference will take place on Saturday, November 5, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Cabrini High School. Program highlights include presentations by Dr. Jan Lancaster, our new Superintendent of Catholic Schools; Patricia J. Austin, UNO professor of Children’s Literature; and representatives from the Louisiana Committee for the Humanities.  Also scheduled are demonstrations of the newest modules of World Book Online, a hands-on trial of the Color Nook and a discussion of the viability of the iPad in the high school library setting. Time is also provided to network with colleagues and visit the vendors of library products and services.

Please forward this information to any librarians, teachers or administrators who may be interested in participating in GNO CLA.  New members always energize our organization, and we need your help to locate them. If you are interested in assisting in any way, our conference chairperson, Michelle Coates, would love to hear from you. Her information is found on the attached Membership/Registration form. DEADLINE FOR MAILING THe FORM IS FRIDAY, OCTOBER 21, 2011. Please also note a second attachment, describing the opportunity to purchase the new Youth Catechism.
